About me
I’m Kiu Kiu — a name from my childhood, given by those who knew me when I was full of laughter, wonder, and unfiltered joy. I’ve carried it with me ever since, and now, as an artist, it feels like the truest name for the work I create. It holds the spirit I paint from — light, playful, and free.
Behind the Work
I spent years painting in realism. But over time, my heart longed for something freer — something more playful, instinctive, and true to the wild joy within me. That longing led me to my current path: figurative abstraction, childlike brushstrokes, and uninhibited doodles that speak more from the soul than from the mind.
Each piece I paint begins with a feeling — a spark of joy, a burst of lightness, a playful whisper from within. I let my spirit lead, using strokes and colors that feel like a child running wild in a field of imagination. My process is intuitive and free, and I believe that energy carries through into the artwork itself. I want people to feel a rush of pure joy, to smile or feel lifted, even if just for a moment. That’s the magic I chase.
I create with intentional carefreeness, allowing imperfection to be beautiful, and spontaneity to lead the way. In this non-perfectionist approach, I’ve found my own version of perfection — one rooted in authenticity and untamed joy.
My work is an offering: a gentle portal into the soul’s purest state. I believe our truest self is joy — and in joy, all is already whole. When we embrace ourselves as we are, without needing to change or hide, something beautiful happens. That is the energy I hope my art carries — a spark of soulful freedom, a quiet smile that lands in the heart, the moment when the pure in one soul recognizes the pure in another.
When I was a child, I had a beloved elephant plushie — one I cherished but eventually lost. That elephant lives on in my paintings, a symbol of long-lost innocence and the light we hold before we learn to judge ourselves. In many ways, my art is a return to that place.
My Vision
I believe joy is a powerful energy — one that can soften the world, lift the spirit, and reconnect us to what matters. Through my paintings, I hope to create little worlds that remind people of that joy — of the beauty in play, the magic in color, and the lightness we all deserve to feel. My vision is simple: to spread that energy, one brushstroke at a time.
